Connect an AI agent
The ShopsBuilder MCP server lets an AI agent such as Claude set up and manage your store: add products, set prices and stock, configure shipping, check orders and sales. The agent signs in as you with OAuth, so it can only reach your own stores.
Server URL:
https://mcp.shopsbuilder.app/mcp
You need a ShopsBuilder account. If you don't have one, you can create it during the first sign-in.
Add it to Claude
Claude.ai and Claude Desktop
- Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Enter the name
ShopsBuilderand the server URL above, then choose Add. - Choose Connect and sign in to ShopsBuilder in the window that opens.
- In a chat, enable ShopsBuilder in the tools menu.
On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner may need to add the connector in the organization settings first.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http shopsbuilder https://mcp.shopsbuilder.app/mcp
Then run /mcp in Claude Code, select shopsbuilder and sign in.
Other MCP clients
Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth can connect. Add the server URL as a remote HTTP server and sign in when the client asks. Don't add API keys or authorization headers; the client gets its token through OAuth.
VS Code or GitHub Copilot (mcp.json):
{
"servers": {
"shopsbuilder": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.shopsbuilder.app/mcp"
}
}
}
Cursor (~/.cursor/mcp.json):
{
"mcpServers": {
"shopsbuilder": {
"url": "https://mcp.shopsbuilder.app/mcp"
}
}
}
Signing in
The first time the agent uses ShopsBuilder, your client opens the ShopsBuilder sign-in page at id.shopsbuilder.app. Sign in with your email or Telegram and approve access. The client receives a short-lived token for your account and renews it while you stay connected. Your password is never shared with the client.
Disconnect or revoke access
- In the client: remove or disconnect the ShopsBuilder connector. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors, select ShopsBuilder and choose Disconnect.
- In ShopsBuilder: open your account at id.shopsbuilder.app. Under Applications, remove the client's access, or under Device activity, sign out of all sessions. The client then has to sign in again.
What the agent can do
The agent works on the store you select. If you have one store, it is selected automatically; with several, the agent asks which one to use.
Read:
- your stores and the selected store's settings;
- products, variants, prices, stock, media, categories and product types;
- promotions and sales, warehouses, channels and channel readiness;
- shipping zones and rates;
- orders, order counts, sales summaries and customers.
Change:
- create a store (after showing you a preview and getting your confirmation);
- create products, variants, variant options, categories and product types;
- set prices and stock, add or delete product media, and publish products;
- create and delete promotions and sales;
- create channels and shipping rates, and connect warehouses and shipping zones to channels;
- update the store profile: name, descriptions, logo, cover image, opening hours and links.
Changes go to your live store. Review what the agent proposes before you confirm. Each tool call is recorded in an audit log (tool, store, time and outcome, without the values you sent), as described in our Privacy Policy.
Example prompts
- "Set up my ShopsBuilder store. Sign me in, list my stores, and ask before creating or changing anything."
- "Add a product called Sencha Green Tea, 100 g, priced at 12 USD with 40 in stock, and publish it."
- "Show this week's orders and total sales, and list the products that are out of stock."
- "Create a 15% discount on all teas for the next 7 days."
- "Check whether my store is ready to sell and tell me what is missing."
Troubleshooting
- The sign-in window doesn't open, or the client says authorization failed. Remove the connector, add it again with the exact URL
https://mcp.shopsbuilder.app/mcp, and connect again. Allow pop-ups for the client. - The client asks for an API key or token. Leave it empty. ShopsBuilder uses OAuth only; choose the client's OAuth or "remote HTTP" option.
- The agent says the store is still being set up. A new store takes a few minutes to provision. Wait a moment and ask again.
- The agent works on the wrong store. Ask it to list your stores and select the right one.
- The agent can't do what you asked. Not every store setting is available to agents yet. The agent reports the request to us; you can also email us.
- Something else. Email [email protected] with your sign-in email, store name, AI client and the time of the request. See Support.
